Torbay Council is currently undertaking a review of its Direct Payments Service, and in particular the way in which this service is currently supported and administered. The Council want to seek your views on how the Direct Payments Service is currently provided. Your feedback will then be used to help develop detailed proposals. These detailed proposals will then be consulted upon at a later date.
Direct Payments are offered to you by your local authority to give you more flexibility over how your care and support is arranged and provided. They are given to both people with care and support needs, and also to carers. Direct Payments are created after an assessment, if the Council decides that you need any kind of support you will receive a personal budget and can choose a Direct Payment instead of letting them arrange services for you.
Direct Payments were introduced to give people more choice and control over how their care and support was arranged, to help them live more independently.
As Torbay Council administers and supports Direct Payments, they want to ensure that the service they provide is fair and accessible, and would like to obtain your views to help them to provide a more efficient service.
The consultation will close on the 11th March 2016.
