[doptg id=”39″]On Friday 30th January, 32 Mayfield students took part in the Devon Winter Ability Games, held at the Life Centre in Plymouth.
Our Table Cricket Team DID AMAZINGLY WELL by coming 3rd and each being awarded a bronze medal! So congratulations go to Josh, Lewis, Connor, Shea, Elliot and Lauren.
Also, in the individual rowing competition, Star came second in her year group, receiving a silver medal! Fantastic – a great achievement, WELL DONE Star!
Over 400 participants took part in competitions spanning across four different sports — boccia, indoor rowing, tennis and table cricket — alongside seven taster activities. These activities included golf, archery, badminton, swimming, wheelchair dance, bowls and indoor athletics.
The young people from local schools and colleges were also crucial in organising the event on the day, as over 70 of them were recruited as ‘Games Maker’ style volunteers.
In addition to the competitions and activities that were on offer, Commonwealth Games Medallist Katherine Endacott opened the event as the Games’ Sporting Champion where participants had the opportunity to meet her during the day and grab autographs and selfies! Needless to say, the Mayfield contingent didn’t miss out on this opportunity!
WELL DONE TO OUR SUPER SQUAD – we were all very proud of you and it was good to see so many smiley faces.
